Reading Tips

Don’t teach. Keep it simple. Have fun with reading.
Have a special time for reading – after dinner or before bedtime.
Use the pictures in a book. They are helpful to your child.
Point at the words with your finger when reading a simple book, and expect your child to do the same.
Supply the word when your child doesn’t know it.
Stop for questions, and talk about the book.
Attend school events with your child.
Meet with the reading teacher when you attend parent-teacher conferences
