Reading Tips

  • Don’t teach.  Keep it simple.  Have fun with reading.

  • Have a special time for reading – after dinner or before bedtime.

  • Use the pictures in a book.  They are helpful to your child.

  • Point at the words with your finger when reading a simple book, and expect your child to do the same.

  • Supply the word when your child doesn’t know it.

  • Stop for questions, and talk about the book.

  • Attend school events with your child.

  • Meet with the reading teacher when you attend parent-teacher conferences
